PPP says deposed judges can be reinstated if they once again take oath from Musharraf

Islamabad, Aug 5 : The major ruling party in Pakistan - the PPP - has reportedly decided to let all deposed Supreme Court judges to resume their duties after they take fresh oath from President Perez Musharraf, who had earlier administered them oath under the PCO (Provincial Constitutional Order).

The country's Law Minister Farooq H Naek said this last evening while talking to reporters after a meeting of PPP leaders here.

He added that all arrears and benefits would be paid to these deposed judges, but they would be required to take a fresh from President Musharraf under the Constitution, he said, reported The News.

In another related development, PPP Chairman Asif Ali Zardari has replied to PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif's letter which had asked the former to clarify his stand over the judges' issue. "Nawaz is my elder brother and all issues will be discussed in detail with him when he come for lunch on Tuesday," he wrote in his reply to Nawaz's letter.
