Five Bangladeshis arrested in Assam
Guwahati, Aug 5 (UNI) A day after one Bangladeshi national was deported, five other suspected Bangladeshis were arrested from Assam's Nagaon district today.
All five are members of the same family, which originally comprised eight members of whom one had died, another was married away and the third missing.
They were arrested from Digholijuroni under Doboka police station following a court verdict that pronounced them as illegal immigrants from Bangladesh.
Police informed that the five would be deported through the legal process soon.
Md Kammaluddin, who was pushed back to Bangladesh yesterday, had also been staying in Nagaon district in central Assam, which is believed to have a sizeable Bangladeshi population.
Meanwhile, student and youth activists across the state have intensified their campaign in detecting suspected Bangladeshi nationals and have been handing over such suspect nationals to the police.
