Bharat Chamber of Commerce to open China desk

Kolkata, Aug 5: Bharat Chamber of Commerce will open a China desk in its Kolkata office to cater to business informations of India and China.

The setting up of the China desk was necessisated after the BCC signed some MoUs and MoAs with seven chambers of commerce of Beijing, Shanghai, Wuxi and Wuhan (Hubei) late last month, BCC president P R Agarwala said.The objectives of the MoUs and MoAs are to exchange information of business activities and local economics, recommend and introduce to each other opportunites for co-operation or partner for trade and investment and organise and exchange visits of trade missions. The chambers also work on study groups for economic and trade services, exchange information about international fairs and exhibitions in Kolkata and China and encourage participation in the events to act as promoters to develop trade and economics.

Besides, strengthening mutual cooperation by organising seminars, workshops and promote joint ventures as well as technologial co-operation between the members of the chambers. BCC deleation visited China between July 21 and 29.

Kolkata Municipal Corporation Mayor Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharyya, who was a member in the delagation, said, ''We can adopt some of China's unique projecs like urban forestry and urban horticulture to combat pollution.''
