Police fail to produce witness in '93 blast case

Mumbai, Aug 4 (UNI) Gujarat police today failed to produce one of the key witnesses in the '93 Mumbai blast case before the designated TADA court here as adequate security was not available to bring the witness to the city.

The witness, at present, is languishing in a jail in Gujarat on other charges.

Designated Judge D U Mulla was informed that due to high alert in the state the police machinery was busy in maintaining law and order situation and hence it was not possible to produce the witness, who requires heavy police protection.

In response to the statement made by CBI, the court adjourned the hearing till August 18.

The witness, who was supposed to be examined in court today, had given a statement about extradited gangster Abu Salem and Dubai deported accused Mustafa Dossa for their involvement in the 1993 serial blast case.
