USIBC applauds IAEA approval of safeguards agreement

Washington, Aug 2 (UNI) US-India Business Council has applauded the decision of the IAEA, approving an agreement to extend nuclear safeguards over India's civil nuclear reactors.

''India needs nuclear power to meet its energy needs for the 21st century. This agreement is good for India, good for the environment, and good for advancing the shared global objectives of nuclear safety and non-proliferation. This is a big step forward for India and for the international community,'' said Ron Somers, President of the Council.
