Naveen demands to convert Burla Engineering college to NIT
Bhubaneswar, Aug 2 (UNI) Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today demanded the Union government to convert Burla Enginnering College into a National Institute of Technology (NIT).
The Chief Minister's demand was made in the wake of Union government's consideration to convert some Engineering colleges of the country into NITs.
In a letter to Union Human Resources Development Minister Arjun Singh, Mr Patnaik said, established in 1956 over 200 acres of land, Burla Engineering College is one of the oldest technical institutions of the state.
The College has the infrastructure to impart teaching to 500 students and facilities for research.
The institutions is well connected by rail and has good arrangement for power and water supply.
'' The institute meets all the criteria required to be a NIT '' the minister stated.
