Mayawati sees Surjeet as role model for country's politicians

New Delhi, Aug 2 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and BSP chief Mayawati today said late CPI (M) leader Harkishan Singh Surjeet is a role model for the country's politicians.

He set an ideal example of serving the interest of a party while playing a positive and creative role for the country on various issues, she said after visiting the late leader's residence here to pay condolences to the bereaved family.

''Shri Surjeet was a great leader who always struggled for social causes, and his demise is an irreparable loss to the nation which today needs people with political commitment,'' she said.

He was a man fully devoted to his party and played a great role in strengthening it and preserving his identity, she said.

Later, Samajwadi Party leaders Mulayam Singh Yadav and Mr Amar Singh besides Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal also visited the late leader's house and expressed deep grief and condolences to his family.
