Centre praises Tripura for NREGA performance
Agartala, Aug 1 (UNI) The Union Ministry of Rural Development has applauded the Tripura government's performance in implementation of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) in the last fiscal.
The Ministry had held review meeting of progress of key processes under NREGA in New Delhi last week with the state Nodal Officers of 16 states, including Tripura, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim, and expressed satisfaction over the performance of Tripura.
State Rural Development Minister Jitendra Choudhury said here today that Tripura had set a record in implementation of NREGA in the state and the success rate recorded was 70 per cent more than last year, which was the highest in the country.
He said the meeting had also suggested for a conference of District-level Nodal Officers to review the operationalisation of work mechanism and computer-based Management Information System (MIS), labour budget, reports of national-level monitors, disposal of complaints and grievances, social audit, establishment of helpline and payment of wages through banks and post offices accounts.
State Nodal Officers were also requested to send the report on action taken by the state governments on the adverse findings of the national-level monitors while the Ministry advised to inquire into the complaints from the beneficiaries and submit report to the Ministry.
