Rains claim 5 lives in Vidarbha
Nagpur, Jul 31 (UNI) Incessant heavy rains continuing over the last two days have claimed five lives in various parts of Vidarbha region of Maharashtra.
The five people who lost their lives, as the region was lashed by heavy downpour, included three from Wardha district and two from Bhandara district, official sources said here today.
Two people, identified as Kisan Kulmethe (60) and Ramesh Dnyaneshwar Bhanse (35), were swept away by the swirling waters of a nullah, while the body of a third, Subhash Mahadeo Chaudhari (51), was found in a well, in Wardha district, they said.
In Bhandara district, Ganesh Bhaiyyalal Bhure (36) was killed after being struck by lightning, while Chhaganlal Hiramal Wahane was swept away by the water in a nullah, the sources said.
As many as 15 tehsils in Nagpur Division, including all the eight in Wardha district, have received excessive rainfall, the sources added.
