Privileges Committee posts meeting to August 19

Puducherry, July 30 (UNI) The previleges Committee of the Puducherry legislative assembly enquiring into the alleged 'objectionable' remarks made by Chief Secretary Rakesh Bihari against the council of ministers, will meet again on August 19.

Six secretaries attended the meeting today and deposed themselves before the committee, Chairman and Deputy Speaker A V Sreedharan told newspersons here after the meeting.

He said since IPS officers A K Singh and Mr Khan and Director of Information Mr Krishnasamy could not appear before the Committee today, it had been posted to August 19 for further hearing. Mr Singh who is in Delhi, informed the Committee that he was indisposed and would appear before the committee later as and when required. But there was no word from Mr Khan and Mr Krishnasamy.

It may be noted that Mr Bihari had reportedly made some objectionable remarks against the council of ministers at a review meeting. Two legislators took exception and urged the Speaker Mr Radhakrishnan to initiate action. The Speaker referred the matter to the Previleges Committee headed by Mr Sreedharan. The Committee had it's third meeting today.
