Manipal Varsity has met all MCI criteria: Pro-VC

Manipal, Karnataka, July 30 (UNI) Manipal University whose MBBS Degree courses offered by two colleges were de-recognised by the Medical Council of India (MCI), today claimed it met all necessary criteria during inspection by Council officials.

In a release here, University Pro-Vice Chancellor H S Ballal said Kasturba Medical College (KMC) at both Manipal and Mangalore, the flagship institution of the university, had fulfilled all criteria as per the norms specified by the MCI and there was no scope for derecognising its courses now.

''We are surprised by the purported statement by the MCI at a time when the matter is under consideration of higher authorities.

''Kasturba Medical College (KMC) fulfils all the inspection criteria be it in faculty quality, staff strength, teaching, infrastructure, hospital infrastructure, hospital utilisation or education,'' he said.

Dr Ballal said the KMC was among the top medical institutes in India providing world-class education and facilities to students. It had consistently featured among the top five medical colleges in the country for the last few decades, he claimed.
