US ignorant about e-mail owning responsibility for Ahmedabad blasts

Washington, Jul 29 (UNI) The US State Department pleaded ignorance about reports claiming that an e-mail owning responsibility for the July 26 serial blasts in Ahmedabad, was sent in the name of 'Indian Mujahideen' from an apartment in Mumbai rented by an American citizen.

''We have seen the reports, but do not have any more information to verify any of it,'' Department's Acting Deputy Spokesman Gonzalo R Gallegos said in reply to a question yesterday.

Gallegos said, ''this series of blasts was obviously a heinous act, something that we abhor. Our condolences go out to those killed and wounded, and to their families and we wish them a speedy recovery.'' UNI XC SLD HS0927
