Heavy rains lash Saurashtra, bring respite for farmers
Rajkot, July 29 (UNI) Heavy rains continued to lash most parts of the Saurashtra region of Gujarat today, bringing respite to farmers in the region after a long dry spell.
Major districts of the state like Junagadh, Porbandar, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Kutch, Surendranagar and Rajkot have received rainfall ranging from 25 mm to 250 mm, which has been described as ''crop saving'' by agricultural experts.
Meanwhile, the heavy rains disrupted public transport due to water logging in several low lying areas of the city.
About 35 students travelling in Gujarat State Roadways Bus on the Bagsara-Khari route were left stranded last night near Mavjinjva village, due to water-logging in the area. However, they were rescued in the wee hours today, following receding of the water, a report from Amreli said.
