Low pressure over coastal Orissa, North Andhra

Chennai, Jul 28 (UNI) A well- marked low pressure area has formed over northwest and adjoining west central bay and coastal areas of south Orissa and north Andhra coast.

A bulletin from the weather office here said that under its influence, rain or thundershowers were likely to occur at several places over Tamil Nadu and Puducherry during the next 24 hours.

As the south west monsoon had become active over Kerala, Tamil Nadu was expected to receive sharp showers during the same period.

The southern Kanniyakumari district received heavy rains during the last 24 hours.

Brief showers in the city and adjoining areas since last evening, brought respite to the people, who were reeling under oppressive heat conditions.

Sharp showers lashed the city and its suburbs this evening also, inundating low lying areas and throwing traffic out of gear at many places in the city.
