High alert in Himachal after serial blasts in Ahmedabad, Bangalore
Shimla, Jul 27 (UNI) The security forces have been put on a high alert in Himachal Pradesh following serial blasts in Ahmedabad and Bangalore in past two days.
The state government was concerned over the blasts as both the targeted states were ruled by the BJP, raising reasonable apprehension that it might also face the brunt.
Chief Minister P K Dhumal said the government was taking all possible precautionary and preventive steps to avoid any untoward incident and security forces were on a high alert.
It was intriguing that the terrorist outfits which had owned the responsibility for bomb blasts were targeting only BJP ruled states and as such the Himachal had to be extra cautious, he said.
He urged the Centre to shed its policy of going soft on terrorism and said unless stringent and coordinated efforts were made by the Centre and the states, it would be difficult to contain this menace.
The spurt in terrorist activities in the recent past was a matter of grave concern and there was a need to keep strict vigil on all anti-social and terrorist elements to prevent any untoward incident, he added.
State Director General of Police (DGP), Ashwani Kumar said the security forces had been alerted and vigil on the entry points of inter-state borders had been beefed up.
He urged the people to remain vigilant and inform the police about suspicious people so that their antecedents could be verified.
