JAMAAT-E-ISLAMI HIND calls for protests against nuke deal
Kozhikode, Jul 26 (UNI) Accusing the Congress-led UPA Government of attempting to mortgage the country to ''imperialism'' through the proposed Indo-US nuclear deal, the JAMAAT-E-ISLAMI HIND (JIH) in Kerala today urged the people to mount strong protests throughout the country against the move.
Talking to mediapersons here JIH Aamir T Aarifali and General Secretary M K Mohammdali said the undue haste shown by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had indicated that he preferred imperialism to the interests of the country.
He said the JAMAAT-E-ISLAMI Kerala unit would organise protest meets in Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Manjeri and Kannur to expose the government on the issue. Public meetings would also be organised at local level to create awareness among the people, he added.
Eminent speakers from social, cultural and political fields would address the programmes, date of which would be announced later, he added.
