Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti extends Jammu bandh call
Jammu, Jul 26 (UNI) Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti today extended the ongoing Jammu bandh for another 24 hours.
In a meeting held here, convener Leela Karan Sharma said the agitation would continue and Jammu would observe complete shut down till Monday.
''The administration is paying no heed to our demand of returning the land to the Shrine Board and we will not let the sacrifice of Kuldeep Kumar Dogra go in vain,'' Mr Sharma said.
Dogra, a protestor of Sangharsh Samiti, allegedly committed suicide on July 23 against revocation of land transfer order, demanding the land back to Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB).
Mr Sharma, however, said the strike has been extended for a day as people of Jammu region have supported their cause.
''This is not only the issue of the Samiti, but it has become the voice of Jammu,'' the convener said, asserting, ''we will pay tributes to martyr Dogra tomorrow at the site of agitation, where he sacrificed his life.'' However, Jammu witnessed massive protests in different parts of the city and nearby areas as people clashed with the police.
