Treasury bench members stages walk out

Mumbai, Jul 25 (UNI) In an unprecendented situation, members of the Treasury bench today staged a walk out from the Maharashtra assembly, in protesting against not taking up the motion of short discussion given by Shashikant Shinde (NCP) and others.

Mr Shinde in his motion had urged the state government to give more benefits to farmers on the lines of the loan waiver scheme.

But, the motion was sidelined for last two days due to other business and tomorrow, being the last day of monsoon session, the ruling party members were on their feet in pressing for the motion.

However, the Opposition members insisted that non-official business should be taken as per the rules and their demand was approved by deputy speaker Pramod Shende.

Enraged by this, Mr Shinde and several other ruling party members from the NCP and the Congress staged a walkout.
