Trade union activists clash near IDL plant; Eight injured
Rourkela, Jul 24 (UNI) At least five trade union activists and three policemen were injured when rival trade union activists clashed near the IDL plant at Somaparvat area near here this morning.
Police said the trouble started when the Sundargarh Mazdoor Union, led by former MLA George Tirkey, obstructed the workers from entering the IDL Plant.
Employees belonging to the CITU and Rourkela Mazdoor Sangh, however, protested the move of the Sundargarh Mazdoor Sangh and this led to a clash among the workers in which three policemen, present at the spot, were injured besides five workers belonging to CITU and Rourkela Mazdoor Sangh.
Later the police arrested 55 activists belonging to the Sundargarh Mazdoor Union from the spot and forwarded them to the court.
