Newly - elected President resigns from Nepali Congress
Kathmandu, Jul 23 (UNI) Newly - elected Nepalese President Rambaran Yadav has resigned from the post of General Secretary and member of the Nepali Congress (NC).
The resignation was accepted by NC President Girija Prasad Koirala yesterday.
''I should be independent from partisan affiliation to maintain dignity and integrity of the post of the President,'' Dr Yadav said in the resignation.
Mr Koirala extended his best wishes to Dr Yadav for his tenure as President, appreciating his contributions in the democratic politics of the country while he was in the NC, the Central Office of the party stated.
Dr Yadav was elected President, defeating the Maoists-backed candidate Ramraja Prasad Singh.
