Gujrar takes over as Pondy Lt Governor
Puducherry, Jul 23: Mr Govind Singh Gujrar was today sworn in as the Lt Governor of the Union Territory of Puducherry.
Puducherry Chief Judge D Krishna Raja administered the oath of office to Mr Gujrar at a simple function at the Raj Nivas here.
Chief Minister N Rangasamy, his cabinet colleagues, legislators, senior officials of the territorial administration and leaders of various parties were among those who took part in the function.
Earlier, Chief Secretary (Acting) NAINI Jayaseelan read out the warrant of Mr Gujrar's appointment.
Seventy-six-year-old Gujrar, hailing from Rajasthan, was a six time member of the Rajasthan Assembly. Elected from Nasirabad constituency in Ajmer district, Mr Gujrar was a sitting member and resigned from the post to assume office as the Lt Governor of Puducherry.
