Do not fill vacancies through UPSC, DMK tells Pondy Govt
Puducherry, Jul 23: Taking strong exception to the reported move of the Congress Government here to fill up the vacant posts in the higher education section through UPSC, Puducherry DMK convenor and former Chief Minister R V Janakiraman today urged the administration to adopt a way for filling the posts which would help the locals.
In a statement here, he said filling up of the posts through UPSC meant that people from other States would be appointed.
Recalling the steps taken by his erstwhile DMK Government to regularise the services of part time and hourly-based lecturers, Mr Janakiraman demanded that the same steps be taken in the case of the 79 hourly-based lecturers, now. Immediate steps should be taken to fill the posts of six college principals and lecturers, he said, adding that the Ministers and the Chief Minister should shed their differences and strive to resolve people's problems, failing which they would be taught a fitting lesson.
