16 killed, 26 injured in Ramban road accident in J K
Jammu, Jul 23 (UNI) At least 16 people were killed and 26 others injured, 15 of them critically, when an ill-fated bus in which they were traveling rolled down into a deep gorge this morning near Banihal in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources here said.
''The bus, which was on its way from Jammu to Srinagar, skidded off the road and rolled down into a 500 feet deep gorge near Sherbibi area near Banihal early morning around 0530 hrs,'' official sources told UNI.
On receiving information, police party and army rushed to the spot and launched rescue operations and recovered the bodies of the dead and injured, who have been shifted to a hospital.
However, critically injured passengers were airlifted to Government Medical College Hospital, Jammu while some of them were undergoing treatment at Udhampur, they said.
