Bright Sun, humidity cause sultry weather, mercury rises to 35.5 Deg

New Delhi, Jul 22 (UNI) After a cool weekend brought about by rain and thundershowers, hot and humid weather returned to Delhi today with the mercury rising to 35.5 degrees Celsius.

With Sun appearing on the skyline and humidity remaining at a high level of 89 per cent, the maximum temperature rose to 35.5 degree C from recorded 33.8 degrees C yesterday.

Earlier in the morning, the minimum also rose, from 26.2 degrees C yesterday to 26.4 degrees C.

Meanwhile, after heavy rain during the weekend, the monsoon showers continued to elude the city.

The lull in rainfall could continue in the coming days with the weatherman forecasting only light rain in some areas in the city.

The Met office has forecast a partly cloudy sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours with possibility of thundershowers or light rains in a few areas.
