MJF candidate elected Nepal VP; Prez election to be held again

Kathmandu, Jul 19 (UNI) Madhesi Janadhikar Forum's (MJF) Parmanand Jha was today elected as the Vice-president of Nepal while the Nepali Congress (NC) candidate Dr Ram Baran Yadav was short of 4 votes for winning the presidency and will go for voting again.

Baran Yadav secured 294 votes while Maoists backed Ramraja Prasad Singh garnered 283 votes. The voting for the post of President will be held again.

Jha defeated Maoist candidate Shanta Shrestha for the post of Vice-president by bagging 305 out of 578 votes.

NC, CPN-UML and MJF forged an alliance presenting Yadav for the post of President and Jha as the Vice-president.
