Golden Katar Div undertakes tree plantation drive
Ahmedabad, Jul 19 (UNI) The Golden Katar Division of the Army today undertook a simultaneous tree plantation drive, ''Mission go green India'', at its military stations at Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Dhrangadhra, Jamnagar and Bhuj in Gujarat.
GOC of Golden Katar Division Major General Sanjeev Langer initiated the drive by planting a sapling today along with the jawans and families of the division at Ahmedabad Cantonment.
Defence sources said the drive will involve every member of the Army, including wives and children, to plant at least one sapling inside the cantonment. Its aim is to make India green. The drive is a sequel to ''Mission Greening India'', which was held last year in July.
As many as 50,000 saplings, procured from the Conservator of Forests, will be planted by defence personnel during the drive.
