Deve Gowda to meet PM this evening
New Delhi, Jul 19 (UNI) Janata Dal (Secular) and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda will be meeting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh this evening ahead of the crucial vote of confidence in the special session of Lok Sabha on July 21 and 22.
Mr Gowda who has been authorised to take a decision on the voting will announce the party's decision formally tomorrow after consulting the leaders of the party.
Although it is widely believed that the JD(S) may vote against the confidence vote, party Secretary General K Danish Ali said nobody should interpret that Mr Gowda's meeting with PM would result in any change in the party's mood. "Our commitment to nuclear autonomy and independent foreign policy stands undiluted," he said.
The party has three MPs including Mr M P Veerendra Kumar, the suspended MP from Kerala. The party may have no difficulty in getting all the three members if the vote is against the UPA.
Mr Kumar has preferred to float his own JD(S) outfit headed by Surendra Mohan.
