Decision to divert power to AP 'illogical': K'taka CM
Bangalore, Jul 19 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa today termed as ''unnecessary and illogical'' the Centre's decision to divert 50 MW of power meant for the state to Andhra Pradesh and urged Power Minister Sushilkumar Shinde to release 290 MW of power to the state immediately.
In a letter to Mr Shinde, Mr Yeddyurappa said he was ''shocked'' to learn the Centre's decision to divert power to Andhra Pradesh and the action was totally ''uncalled for.'' The Centre should release the state's share as power crisis had reached its peak, following monsoon failure in the state, he pointed out.
The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh for his positive response to set up a 2,000 MW thermal power unit jointly in Jahangir district.
He also thanked Mr Singh and his government officials for earmarking 2,000 acres of land and sufficient water supply from Mahanadhi river for the purpose.
