Curfew clamped in Dabwali town following clashes

Dabwali (Sirsa), July 18 (UNI) Curfew was clamped in this town bordering Punjab following clashes between Dera Sacha Sauda supporters and members of a Sikh religious group in which one person was killed this morning.

Police sources identified the victim as Sukhminder Singh, a member of the local Satkar Sabha, a Sikh religious group. The killing led to tension in this town.

Members of the Satkar Sabha attacked and burnt a few shops and the house of a Dera Sacha Sauda supporter. Police had to use teargas shells and even lathicharged the Satkar Sabha supporters.

Besides the Haryana police the Rapid Action Force had been deployed in the town to maintain law and order. Meanwhile, the Punjab government has stepped up vigil along its border with Haryana.

The situation in the town was described as tense but under control.
