Badal condemns Dabwali incident, appeals for peace
Chandigarh, Jul 18 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today condemned the clash between Dera Sacha Sauda followers and members of Satkar Sabha,a Sikh religious group in Dabwali (Haryana) which resulted in the death of one person.
In a statement here, Mr Badal termed the incident as "extremely sad and unfortunate" and appealed to the peace loving Punjabis to maintain communal harmony and amity.
He urged the Haryana government to take immediate action under law against all the guilty. He also appealed to the people to exercise restraint despite provocation by some anti social elements which were bent upon tarnishing the social fabric of society.
Mr Badal also appreciated the Punjabis' indomitable spirit for showing exemplary courage and tolerance in such trying situations earlier also and hoped they would once again give a befitting reply to the fissiparous forces that were inimical to the age old ties of brotherhood and harmony.
Mr Badal expressed his heart felt sympathies with the members of the family of Sukhminder Singh, who died in the Dabwali clash and prayed to almighty to give strength and courage to bear this irreparable loss and grant peace to the departed soul.
Meanwhile the Chief Minister also directed the state the state Director General of Police (DGP) to beef up security and to keep a strict vigil over the situation.
