HC stays transfer orders of civil police to GRP

Allahabad, Jul 15 (UNI) The Allahabad High Court today stayed the transfer order of some civil policemen posted here to the Government Railway Police (GRP), Lucknow.

Passing the order, Justice S K Singh stayed the transfer of writ petitioners Sachidanand Tripathi, Senior Sub-Inspector at police station Handia and Arvind Kumar at police station, Civil Lines, Allahabad.

The transfer order was passed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Establishment, Uttar Pradesh, police headquarters, Allahabad on July 30, 2008.

The fact of the case was that 235 Sub-Inspectors of civil police, who were posted in different districts of UP -- including the petitioners, were transferred to GRP, Lucknow.

Petitioners, Sachidanand Tripathi and Arvind Kumar of Allahabad had filed the writ petition and challenged the transfer order.

Justice S K Singh passed the interim order in favour of the petitioners and stayed the order with relate to the petitioners.

The Court also directed the state government to file counter affidavit within the next two months in the matter.
