Maoists blow up railway tracks in Bihar
Jamui (Bihar) Jul 11: Suspected Maoists blew up railway tracks and a Block Development Officer's (BDO) office in Bihar's Jamui District in the wee hours of Friday, July 11 to protest against the recent arrest of its self-styled area commander Kamlesh alias Deepak.
According to sources, scores of Maoist rebels blasted the track between the Narganjo and the Ghorparan stations under Eastern Railway at around 1:00 a.m. disrupting movement of trains on Patna-Howrah route. "They blasted a portion of the block office using dynamites, but failed to cause any further damage as police and Special Auxiliary Police (SAP) jawans put up stiff resistance forcing the naxalites to retreat," Superintendent of Police Vinay Kumar said.
They also exploded a bomb on the up track near Ghoghi-Bariarpur village on Jamalpur-Kiul section in Munger district.
Nearly half a dozen trains including the Howrah-Delhi Lalquila Express and the Gorakhpur-Hatia Maurya Express were stranded at Jhajha and Jasidih stations.
