Six killed and 23 injured in a road accident
Panskura, Jul 08 (UNI) At least six people were killed and 23 injured, 12 of them seriously, when a bus carrying them collided head on at Jiakhali under Panskura Police Station in East Midnapore district today.
The accident occurred when the bus in a bid to overtake a vehicle dashed against a truck coming from opposite direction, police said.
While four people died on the spot, one succumbed to his wounds in Ghatal sub-divisional hospital.
The injured were rushed to different hospitals, where the condition of 12 was stated to be critical, police added.
The driver and helper of the truck, however, managed to escape after the incident.
Traffic on the Panskura-Ghatal road was disrupted following the accident.
