Ketamine powder worth Rs 50 lakh seized from air traveller

Chennai, Jul 8 (UNI) Air Customs officials seized five kg of Ketamine hydrocholride powder, valued at Rs 50 lakh in the international market, from a Kuala Lumpur-bound passenger at the Anna International airport here early today.

Airport sources said the officials, while checking the passengers of Kuala Lumpur-bound Indian Airlines flight at 0230 hrs, scanned the baggage of S M Tajudeen (56), hailing from Ramanathapuram.

On closer examination of the baggage, they found the drug concealed in special cavities.

The officials seized the powder and arrested him, sources added.

Carrying of Ketamine hydrchloride powder requires a no objection cetificate from the Narcotics Commission.
