Notorious criminal dies in police encounter in UP

Gorakhpur, Jul 6: The Special Operation Group (SOG) of Uttar Pradesh police has gunned down an absconding criminal in the Khorabar area of the district.

Dheerendra alias Dheeraj Singh (23) was killed in a fierce encounter with cops late last night, police said today.

His aide, however, fled the scene.

A revolver and a few cartridges were seized from his possession.

Dheeraj was facing loot, theft and murder charges in almost 18 criminal cases.
