6,556 students opt for English medium civic schools
Mumbai, Jul 4 (UNI) This year as many as 6,556 students have opted for English education from junior KG to class two in various civic-run schools of the city, as compared to 1,219 last year.
While speaking to reporters here today, Additional Municipal Commissioner S D Sangle said the response to the English medium municipal schools has been good.
''We had started only 32 English medium schools in the city, as compared to the projected target of 84, due to apprehension of the students in joining English medium corporation schools. But the good response from students will lead to an increase in the number of schools,'' Mr Sangle said.
Many teachers from various mediums like English, Hindi, Telugu and others have been recruited in the primary and the secondary sections and the remaining will be recruited soon, Mr Sangle said.
