Vijaya Bank waives Rs 217 cr to 70,000 farmers
Bangalore, Jul 1 (UNI) Public sector Vijaya Bank has waived off farmers loans to the tune of Rs 217 crore, benefiting 70,000 farmers in its 578 branches, under the Centre's Agriculture Debt Waiver and Debt Relief Scheme announced in the Union Budget 2008-09.
Talking to newspersons here today, Bank Chairman and Managing Director Prakash P Mallya said the bank had displayed the list of the beneficiaries under the scheme.
He said ''farming community is uppermost in the bank's agenda. We are committed to ensure successful implementation of the scheme and make sure that all eligible farmers are issued fresh loans at the earliest.'' UNI MSP DS 2029
