MCOCA court extends judicial custody of Gawli and 18 others

Mumbai, July 1 (UNI) A special MCOCA court today extended judicial custody of gangser-turned-politician Arun Gawli and eighteen others, in connection wtih Shiv Sena Corporator Kamlakar Jamsandekar's murder case, till July 15.

Amidst tight security, Gawli and others were produced before MCOCA (Maharashtra Control for Organised Crime Act) court Judge Y D Shinde, who extended their judicial custody till July 15.

The other accused include Prakash Sawla, Dinesh Narkar, Srikrishna Gurav alias Babu, Vijay Kumar Giri, Narendra Giri, Anil Giri, Ashok Jaiswal, Sahebrao Bhintude, Sadashiv Surve, Surendra Panchal and Sandeep Dongan.

They were booked under section 302 (murder) of Indian Penal Code (IPC), 3 (1)(ii), 3 (2), 3(4) and 4 of MCOC Act and 3 and 25 of Arms Act.

Gawli was arrested for allegedly accepting a 'supari' to eliminate the corporator. Sawla was also nabbed for allegedly financially assisting the activities of the Arun Gawli gang. It may be recalled that Jamsandekar was killed in March last year at his Asalpha residence in suburban Ghatkopar.
