UNLF militant injured in encounter in Manipur

Imphal, Jun 23: Troops of 1 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) injured a United National Liberation Front (UNLF) militant in an encounter at Nampisha in Ukhrul district.

The PRO of AR said here today that acting on a tip-off about movement of UNLF cadres, the troops carried out extensive operations and a suspected militant was injured.

However, the insurgents managed to escape under cover of darkness.

During search of the area, a US-made Carbine was recovered, the PRO added.
