Three die in city bus accident in Kohima

Kohima, Jun 23 (UNI) At least three people, including a woman, were killed and over 20 injured, when a city bus, in which they were travelling, turned turtle near the secretariat office here today.

Most of the passengers were staff of the Nagaland Civil Secretariat, police said.

One of the killed has been identified as Atashi Sangtam, a government employee.

A lady staff of the secretariat was also succumbed to her injuries in the Naga Hospital here, sources said.

Nearly all the commuters injured in the accident were taken to various hospitals. Five of them, who were in critical condition, were admitted and the rest were released after providing the first aid.

The vehicle was going from Kohima town towards the state secretariat.

The driver fled the scene after the mishap.

Police arrested the handyman of the bus.
