PHE daily wagers demand salary of four years in J

Srinagar, Jun 23: Hundreds of Public Health Engineering (PHE) daily-wagers today took to the streets in the city demanding immediate release of four-year salaries.

Raising slogans against the state government, they daily wagers said they have not been paid their salaries for the past four years.

Despite repeated assurance by the government, nothing has been done so far, they alleged.

The processionists marched through different streets and staged a massive demonstration in the Water Works office near here.

They alleged that Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Baig has recently announced to release the salaries of only ITI trained fitters and other employees while there was no word about the daily wagers who are doing maximum work of the PHE.

This is the third time in just a fortnight, the PHE daily wagers took to streets in support of their demands, including payment of salaries and regularisation of their services.
