Paswan, Lalu meets Sonia to discuss political situation

New Delhi, Jun 23 (UNI) Lok Janshakti Party president Ram Vilas Paswan and RJD leader Lalu Prasad today met UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and reportedly held deliberations on the crisis facing the government on the nuclear deal.

Though refusing to divulge the agenda of the one-to one meeting, Mr Paswan said he was with the UPA government on the nuclear deal issue.

The Railway Minister also met the UPA chairperson to give his overview on the political situation especially with the Left parties and the Prime Minister taking a firm position on the issue.

The meeting is significant in view of the Left ultimatum to the government on the nuclear deal issue. The BSP has already withdrawn support to the UPA government.

Earlier, NCP leader and Agriculture minister Sharad Pawar also met the Congress President.
