NDA govt committed to decentralisation and women empowerment:Nitish
Patna, Jun 23 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today reiterated that the NDA government was committed to women empowerment and de-centralisation of power in accordance with the ideology of Mahatma Gandhi.
In a meeting with presidents and members of various district boards at his residence on the sidelines of the Janta Durbar, Mr Kumar said the NDA government had reserved 50 per cent seats of Panchayati Raj and local bodies' institutions to women to move faster on way to their empowerment.
'' The responsibility of execution of various welfare and development projects now lie upon the shoulder of the elected bodies at grassroot level, and representatives of these institutions should discharge it diligently in accordance with the norms, '' he added.
When some district board members drew the attention of the Chief Minister towards non-cooperation from the officers in discharging their responsibilities, he warned the officials and said they should make the elected representatives aware of the rules and regulations of the implementation of various welfare schemes.
'' The state government will not spare any official for their laxity in discharging their duties, '' Mr Kumar said and cautioned the elected representatives that they were only facilitators in the implementation of the welfare projectes and not the agents for execution of such schemes.
During the initial stages of the Janta Durbar programme when it began two and half years back, some vested interests were engaged in dubbing it as eyewash, but with the passage of time, it not only helped redress the public grievances but also provided vital feedbacks leading to launching of various welfare schemes, he asserted.
'' Mukhya Mantri Kanya Vivah Yojna, Poshak Yojna for school girls and Cycle Yojna for school girls are some of the welfare schemes launched by the state government on the basis of the feedbacks from people, who turn up for redressal of their grievances at the Janta Durbar, ''Mr Kumar pointed out.
The Chief Minister said the appointment process was simplified and decentralised during the recruitment of teachers in the past two years, which was done in accordance with the commitment of decentralisation of power.
