Badal hails SAD-BJP victory in Bathinda MC polls
Chandigarh, Jun 23 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today described the sweeping victory of SAD-BJP alliance in the Bathinda Municipal Corporation election as a ''forceful mandate for peace and development in the state''.
In a statement here, Mr Badal also thanked the people of Bathinda city for their overwhelming support for the policies and programmes of the ruling alliance.
He resolved that the government was committed for Bathinda's all-round development and would strive towards putting the city on the international map through world-class infrastructure and industrial development.
The Chief Minister reiterated his government's commitment to serve people with even greater resolve and stated that the government would work towards Bathinda's overall development.
He especially congratulated and thanked the workers and leaders of the SAD-BJP alliance for converting the support of the masses into concrete results.
Mr Badal noted the fact that the Congress could win only 6 seats out of 50 was itself a proof that the party had been totally isolated by the people.
The SAD-BJP Alliance was able to secure three-fourth victory by winning 38 of the total 50 wards, with Congress grabbing on only 6 seats and independents capturing six wards.
Meanwhile, Member of Parliament and SAD President Sukhbir Singh Badal also hailed the landslide victory of the SAD-BJP in the Bathinda Municipal Corporation polls.
He termed the people's mandate a testimony to their unflinching trust and confidence in policies and programmes of the SAD-BJP government.
