All measures taken to cut price hike: Minister

Thiruvananthapuram, Jun 23: Kerala Food and Civil Supplies Minister C Divakaran today said the Left Democratic Front Government had taken adequate measures to check the price hike in the state.

Replying to questions from M J Jacob (CPI-M) and others, he told the Assembly the government had taken various steps, including market intervention, to bring down the prices of essential commodities.

Stringent measures were being taken against hoarding of essential commodities, he said.

Mr Divakaran said the government had procured rice from other states, which was being supplied at nominal rates to the people.

Even the APL cardholders were being given rice at Rs 16 a kg. The state had also urged the Centre to increase the APL quota, he added.
