96 injured in TN road accidents
Tiruchirapalli, Jun 22 (UNI) As many as 96 people, including four ruling DMK functionaries, were injured in separate road accidents in several districts of Tamil Nadu today.
Police said at least 60 passengers were injured, when the driver of a city bus, on way to Kannagudi from Keeranur, lost control over the wheels near Alangudipatti village in Pudukkottai district.
In another accident, 20 people were injured, when a van plunged into the roadside irrigation canal near Palaya Jayankondam village in Karur district.
Twelve women were hurt after a mini lorry dashed against a tractor at Moorthiyan village in Ariyalur district.
Later, four ruling DMK functionaries were injured, when a car collided head-on with another car at Alamapattipudur village on the Tiruchirapalli-Dindigul National Highway in Tiruchirapalli district.
The injured were admitted to nearby hospitals, police added.
