President inaugurates Satya Bharti School in Jodhpur
New Delhi, Jun 21 (UNI) President Pratibha Devisingh Patil today inaugurated the Satya Bharti School at Village Lordi Dejgara in Jodhpur, set up by the Bharti Enterprises philanthropic arm Bharti Foundation which plans to invest Rs 200 crore to open 550 schools by 2010.
Under Satya Bharti School Program, Bharti Foundation will set up 500 Satya Bharti Primary Schools and 50 Senior Secondary cum Vocational Training Schools for underprivileged children in villages across the country.
''The Satya Bharti School program is an innovative model of public-private partnership in the country where even people from village communities have played an important role,'' Bharti Enterprises Managaing Director, Rajan Bharti Mittal said.
Currently 161 Satya Bharti Primary Schools are operational across the states of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand with more than 13,000 children and over 560 teachers, Mr Mittal added.
