Floods in Midnapore man made: SUCI

Kolkata, Jun 21 (UNI) Socialist Unity Centre of India (SUCI) state secretary Provash Ghosh today branded the recent floods in East and West Midnapore districts as ''man made.'' Talking to newspersons here, Mr Ghosh alleged that the state government has neglected in renovating the dams and repairing the rivers embankments at both the districts timely which aggravated the situation.

'' This is man made and not nature made floods and Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee is solely reponsible for this disaster,'' he said.

Disagreeing with the state government's claims, Mr Ghosh said more than one crore people have already been affected in the floods and relief materials were not reaching them.

Ridiculing the Chief Minister's lebelling of the floods as ''untimely, " he questioned whether Mr Bhattacharjee was aware that monsoon had already entered the state.
