BMC Commissioner orders inquiry into Sion Hospital incident
Mumbai, Jun 20 (UNI) Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Jairaj Phatak has ordered an enquiry into an incident at Sion Hospital, where a new-born baby was declared dead even though it was alive.
Briefing mediapersons here today, Mr Phatak said an enquiry has been initiated in the case.
It may be recalled that a few days ago, 30-year-old Mrs Gaikwad had given birth to a baby, which was declared stillborn but at the time of cremation, it started breathing.
The gynaecologist of Sion Hospital, Dr Hasma Shaikh, has been suspended following the incident, he said.
Meanwhile, Dr Sandhya Kamat has taken charge as the dean of Sion Hospital.
