Irate mob beats two KMC employees over inadequate water supply
Kolhapur, Jun 19 (UNI) Upset over inadequate drinking water supply, an irate mob today beat up two employees of the Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC) here.
People from the city's Apatenagar and nearby areas today staged a 'rasta roko' agitation to protest continous inadequate drinking water supply to them for last many days, police sources said.
KMC's two employees -- Mr Kesarkar and Mr Shinde who release water to these areas, were targetted by the gathered mob and beat them for their negligence to supply adequate water to the areas.
Immediately after the incident, top officers of civic water department visited the area, however, the angry mob 'gheraoed' them and forced them to sit with them on the road, police sources said.
Following this, the employees of KMC's water department went to the city's Rajwada police station and registered a complaint against four persons, including area corporator Amol Mane, for their involvement in beating the employees, sources said, adding, further invetigations are on.
